Federico S. Sanchez, The Peronists’ main man is one of the driving forces of the nu-digi-cumbia scene in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His live sets have helped influenced a new generation of artists combining the traditional sounds of South American Cumbia and streetwise bass beats aimed for the dance floor. A resident at BA’s massive Zizek club night and others cool indie partys, along with the rest of the new cumbia producers he’s bringing an incredible new genre to the world.
For this tour [Summer 2009, Europe] he’s stripped down his usual full band show for a solo set that still includes live vocals, fife flute, percussion, laptop and keys as well as full Peronists acid visual accompaniment. His mix of squelching synth lines, heavy stomping cumbia rhythms and live instrumentation mixed and mashed up on the spot make for a stunning show.
